TAKE A STEP BACK IN TIME WITH
CAPITOL MEMORIES
A WEEKLY INSIDE LOOK AT THE CAPITOL THEATRE
Flint, Mich. – Flint’s iconic Capitol Theatre holds a treasure trove of memories. The theatre was built in 1928 and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places in Michigan. Now the public can get an inside look at the historic building through “Capitol Memories,” a weekly video storybook presented on the website https://www.capitoltheatreflint.com/about-us.
Every Wednesday, long-time broadcaster and author Michael J. Thorp, hosts “Capitol Memories” from the stage of The Capitol, giving you an inside look at where the magic happens. Michael’s guests are members of our community who share their stories spanning decades and include treasured memories of life in downtown Flint. The video storybook is taped and added to the website every Wednesday.
If you grew up in Flint, you likely have a story about the Capitol: your first date, your first concert, or perhaps the place you first appeared on stage. The Capitol may be where your parents or grandparents took you to see your first show. Remember the organ playing before the matinee on a Saturday?
Whatever your Capitol Memories, new or old, we hope you’ll check in weekly for each new release which will include an occasional behind-the-scenes tour.
If you have a Capitol Memory you’d like to share or need help taking a video, please email us at capitolmemories@capitoltheatreflint.com. Or, for more information on the Capitol Theatre, visit capitoltheatreflint.com.
If you’d like to support this free programming and the preservation of the history of the Capitol Theatre, you can make a gift here.
